Top-of-the-table FC AshantiGold continued their impressive start to the season, extending their unbeaten run to five consecutive games without conceding a goal, after securing a commanding 3-0 victory over struggling Police Nationals at the Tuba AstroTurf on Saturday.
Gideon Eshun opened the scoring for the visitors just three minutes after kickoff, setting the tone for a dominant display. Raphael Ankamah doubled the lead with a magnificent header in the 72nd minute. Substitute Shadrack Kofi sealed the victory for AshantiGold in stoppage time.
The Miners have now accumulated 13 points, having scored 8 goals and conceded none in the league this campaign. Their defensive solidity and attacking efficiency have made them the team to beat in Zone Two.
Elsewhere, former Premier League side New Edubiase United dropped points for the third successive game after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to newly promoted Nsuopun Fidelity at the Len Clay Sports Stadium. In Cape Coast, Ebusua Dwarfs ended their four-game winless streak with a much-needed 2-0 victory over PAC Academy at the Robert Mensah Stadium.
