FC AshantiGold '04 secure Ghana Premier League qualification with three games to spare

FC AshantiGold '04 have officially secured promotion to the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League after a dominant 2025/26 campaign in Zone Two of the Access Bank Division One League.

The Miners' fate was sealed on Matchday 27 when their emphatic 4-1 victory over Skyy FC at the Bekwai Gyamfi Park — combined with Ebusua Dwarfs' 2-0 defeat to Sefwi All Stars — made AshantiGold mathematically uncatchable at the top of the Zone Two table with three games still to play.

Head coach Abdul Karim Zito's side have been the outstanding team in the division all season, leading the table from start to finish. After 27 matches, AshantiGold have accumulated 58 points from 18 wins, 4 draws, and just 5 losses — an 11-point cushion over second-placed Ebusua Dwarfs.

The promotion caps a remarkable debut season for the Obuasi-based club, who are now set to compete in the top flight for the first time. Their consistency, defensive solidity, and attacking firepower — spearheaded by the likes of Raphael Ankamah, Gerard Owusu, and Richmond Fosu — have made them deserving champions.

FC AshantiGold will complete the remaining fixtures of the Division One League season before turning their attention to preparations for their Ghana Premier League campaign.
